Custom Longarm Quilting Service
Located at The Village Smithy in Bishop Hill, IL, Sheri operates the custom longarm quilting service. She has over 25 years of machine quilting experience, and specializes in freehand designs. Whether you want traditional to contemporary style quilting, she can stitch a distinctive design to enhance your quilt.
Prices for quilting start at .01 cents per square inch, with many designs in the 1¼ - 1½ cents per square inch price range. Heirloom or very thread-intense quilting are higher prices. Quilts may be brought or shipped to The Village Smithy for quilting.
Custom quilting is done all year around, with limited hours in the winter season. E-Mail or call Sheri at (309) 927-3851 for more information or to make reservations for your quilt.
General Class Information
Class size is limited to 10 people per session. Early registration is encouraged.
Class fee is $30 per session, which includes all supplies, fabrics, and instructions. Every class participant will leave with at least 1 ½ yards of fabric to be rinsed at home. Extra materials will be available for purchase if you wish to work on more fabric during class time. Wear old clothes or bring an apron to wear during class.

No artistic ability required! Learn to use dyes as paints to make a Fall Wall hanging and “Easy Batik” fabrics.

12 step Color Wheel
At Prairie Arts Center, Bishop Hill, IL
Dye 12 different colors all around the color wheel! This is a great class to learn dyeing and color mixing for fabrics.
Dyeing For Dahlias
We will make a dahlia wall hanging from fabrics that have been dyed, painted, discharged and overdyed in the class sessions. Then I will show you quick and easy ways to sew your dahlia. This makes a stunning quilt that can be traditional or contemporary.

Hand Dyed Fabrics & Classes
Sheri has been hand dyeing fabrics for her quilts since 1979. Many of her fabrics are for sale at The Village Smithy, Bishop Hill, IL. She also leads hands-on workshops for quilters and fiber artists interested in making their own fabrics.
Quiltcards and Patterns
Quiltcards feature quilts from area museums and private collections photographed at locations I and around Bishop Hill. The cards include the known history of the quilts, patterns, and instructions for making the featured quilt.
